How to number files and folders

Administrators can apply numbering to selected documents and folders. A two-step process is designed to prevent accidental numbering changes.

Numbering files and folders on a computer

  1. Go to Ruby Datum > Documents.
  2. Near the top, select Numbering
  3. Select Add/update Numbering

Notes

You can re-order items before numbering is applied. Simply click Re-order items in the Numbering menu and a new column will appear on the left. Use the icon at the start of each row to drag items up and down before adding numbering.

Subfolders will be automatically numbered. If the parent folder is numbered “4”, then subfolders or documents will be numbered “4.1”, “4.2”, “4.3” and so on.

You can follow a similar process to remove numbering.
